Walk-to-play game Moomin Move meets Santa Claus in a snow castle

Finnish game studio Tribered’s non-violent walk-to-play game Moomin Move has been updated with an interesting new real-world location. Moomin Snowcastle in the Finnish Lapland, home of Santa Claus, will be opened on December 20th.

Lapland

Moomin Snowcastle at the Santa Claus Village in the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, Finland will be open until the end of March 2019. This real-world castle with a labyrinth, sculptures, slide and a café is built entirely of snow and ice.

Players can find the rascal Little My by walking at the Santa Claus Village. Little My wants the player to find a silver tray for her to slide a slope. She also needs a tea cozy for her to make herself a nice warm jacket. The mission is based on the popular Moominland Midwinter story by the Finnish author Tove Jansson.

Both of these items can be found in the Moomin Snowcastle in the Santa Claus Village and elsewhere in the world. Once the player finds these items for Little My, she will grant a mysterious item to the player as a reward. This reward item will otherwise be extremely rare to find in the game.

The new update also features a number of exciting additions. Among the many small features and fixes there’s now the ability to subscribe to an Adventure Pass to get more daily in-game rewards. There’s now also a new way to invite friends to play the game to get an in-game currency bonus for the both players. Moomin Move also now encourages to walk even more and more efficiently with a compass booster.

“We have named our game genre as walk-to-play because it really encourages gamers to walk more”, comments Jani Järvinen, CEO of Tribered. “Our non-violent Moomin contender to Pokemon Go is mixing the real world with digitally created Moominvalley. This concept also gives great possibilities for advertising and meaningful real-world activations.”

Moomin Move has been a success in its home country Finland with frequent featuring from App Stores and chart topping positions. Moomin Move is now available globally with few exceptions. Japan is the next country for Moomin Move to be released in early 2019.
