What Happened To eFootball?

If you keep up-to-date with all the latest news within gaming, then you have more than likely heard about eFootball and the disaster that it turned out to be.

You may have even been looking forward to eFootball before its release, and if you are anything like us, we just couldn’t wait for a new football game to come out to challenge the likes of FIFA.

Unfortunately, this never came to fruition, and there are a plethora of reasons as to why this is the case.

In this article, we will be taking a look at what exactly went wrong with eFootball, as well as going through some of the most notable points about why this project was destined to fail.

A Myriad Of Technical Issues

The downfall of eFootball began as soon as it was released.

The launch of eFootball was a disaster, and even without talking about the endless list of glitches and bugs, its performance alone was enough to put off the vast majority of people.

It didn’t matter what you tried to play it on; eFootball performed terribly.

Right from the get-go, this is a critical error, and even if there wasn’t a plethora of bugs to boot, the performance would have stopped this game from ever becoming a success.

Let’s propose we are going to give eFootball a pass on its performance. I mean, it seems as though recently almost every game launches with horrific performance, and while it might not be on the same level that eFootball was, it’s still not acceptable.

Even without factoring in the terrible performance, there are still a never-ending number of issues that cannot be easily fixed. Whether it be a lack of content, terrible controls, sub-par graphics; eFootball was just a mess in every conceivable parameter.

Of course, as word spread about eFootball’s botched launch, this only further went to cripple the new IP, and all the negative publicity made any curious onlookers stay far away.

FIFA is On Another Level

When paired with eFootball’s disastrous launch, FIFA’s mighty reputation would have also played a key factor in its destruction.

Despite the fact that each instalment of FIFA changes next to nothing, the reputation that FIFA has got truly is on a whole different level, and it is going to take something revolutionary to throw it from the throne.

To add to this point; we may even see football betting in TZ add a whole section for digital FIFA games in the future – something which would have been utterly unbelievable just a few years back.

FIFA truly has managed to reach a level that few businesses have. Even though they offer a sub-par product and its parent company EA is almost universally hated by everyone, it remains unmoved.

At this point, the question of whether or not the usual laws of business apply to products like FIFA, and even something that offers a far-superior alternative may struggle to even make a mark.

A Development Team With No Gusto

The development team behind PES truly did bet on football, and seeing as though this bet didn’t go as well as expected, it seems like they have all but given up.

Since the launch of eFootball, there has been almost a dead silence surrounding the game, and most people assume that the developers have just decided to abandon the project completely.

A team with the passion to make things right could have changed the story entirely, and given enough patience and attention, maybe eFootball could have turned out to be the “FIFA-killer” everyone assumed it to be.

There is no doubt that it would have taken some work, and any eFootball review cannot find enough negative words to accurately portray the depths of failure that is achieved.

However, that’s not to say that it wasn’t possible to turn things around, and there have been many other games that were released in a terrible condition but with enough love and care, turned out to be amazing games.

Although, as things stand now, it just doesn’t seem like eFootball is set to become one of the aforementioned games.

The demise of eFootball really is a shame, and it was the closest thing we have ever had to a game that could potentially be seen as a threat to FIFA.

Alas, it just wasn’t meant to be, and after the whole fiasco surrounding eFootball and all the negative attention it received, it is unlikely that anyone else would dare to undertake such a venture in the foreseeable future.
