Styx: Shards of Darkness — January 1st to 31st (Xbox One)

Originally released back on March 14th, 2017 (and like its predecessor), Styx can clone himself and lay traps for his enemies and also temporarily turn invisible. You will be able to engage enemies or avoid them, or even interact with ropes and grappling hooks that can reach high areas. There will also be a multiplayer co-op mode with the second player controlling one of Styx’s clones.

Batman: The Telltale Series — January 16th to February 15th (Xbox One)

Batman: The Telltale Series is a 2016 episodic point-and-click graphic adventure video game developed and published by Telltale Games and distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under its DC Entertainment label. Take on the role of Batman, both as the superhero and as his alter ego Bruce Wayne. Before the series’ first episode released, then CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner had stated that playtime will be split evenly between them, though at times, the game will offer the player a choice of whether to approach a situation as Wayne or as Batman — and boy, does it live up to that and the Batman name! The best part of this series is that all five chapters are here: “Realm of Shadows”, “Children of Arkham”, “New World Order”, “Guardian of Gotham”, and “City of Light” — so you’re getting five games in one package.

Tekken 6 — January 1st to 15th (Xbox One & Xbox 360)

Developed and published by Bandai Namco Games and released on November 26th, 2007 then ported to consoles on October 27th, 2009, this fighting game swept the scene featuring bigger stages with more interactivity than its predecessors — including walls or floors that can be broken to reveal new fighting areas, adding nine new characters to the roster (with 33 of everyone’s favorite fighters), a new Rage system that gave characters more damage per hit when their health is below a certain point, and introduced the “bound” system. When used in a juggle combo, it causes the opponent to be smashed hard into the ground, bouncing them off it in a stunned state and leaving them vulnerable to another combo or an additional attack. Still a fun classic to play with friends online or in the Scenario Campaign by yourself.

LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy — January 16th to 31st (Xbox One & Xbox 360)

First released on September 11th, 2006, this Lego-themed action-adventure video game developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by LucasArts and TT Games Publishing. It follows the events of the Star Wars films A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back,  and Return of the Jedi. The game allows players to assume the roles of over 50 Lego versions of characters from the film series while customized characters can also be created. Camera movement was improved from its predecessor — Lego Star Wars: The Video Game — and the concept of “vehicle levels” was explored more thoroughly. If you’re a fan of Star Wars and are looking for a new way to relive the original trilogy, then look no further than this game … and if you have kids, you can play this with them!

That’s all for now so be sure to pick each game up as they are released through Xbox’s Games with Gold program and stay with GamingLyfe for more!
