Blizzard Officially Confirms World of Warcraft Shadowlands Release Date

J. Allen Brack Blizzard’s new president has just confirmed the release month for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion. While the development is still on track to release this year, but being such a late date could be a hint that Blizzcon 2020 might be canceled.

In a call regarding the company’s Q1 earnings earlier this week Brack confirmed Shadowlands would release as early as November 2020. Blizzard’s development team has been working from home recently due to the COVID-19 pandemic; Brack praised the team saying they are doing a “Really good job” with workflow.

It has seemed to be chalked up to a loss for Shadowlands to be launched in 2020 due to the global pandemic, but it looks like it will work out after all. According to Dexerto Brack cited.

“Our teams have done a really good job in shifting,” he said during the May 5 call. “We were able to welcome players into the closed alpha last month.
“Thanks to the hard work of the team, Shadowlands is on track to launch in Q4 of this year.” – J. Allen Brack

An exact day for the release was not mentioned but this could be due to the fact Blizzcon 2020 has not yet been canceled. A November release could have severe effects on the meta for the Arena World Championship and the Mythic Dungeon Invitational. Could this mean they might cancel Blizzcon all together? Could we possibly not even see a digital version of the yearly Esports tournaments?

Blizzard has already announced that it will not be releasing any more content for the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is going to be a rough 6 months leaving players who keep their subs suffering from content starvation. However, SL is set to release a boatload of content and bring back a lot of the game’s old school core mechanics and abilities. Will this be the greatest expansion ever?
