Guilty Gear Franchise Gets Anime Treatment with Dual Rulers

Arc System Works America and Sanzigen Studios have officially dropped the bombshell that the iconic Guilty Gear franchise is getting an anime makeover. Titled Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers, this anime adaptation promises to bring the high-octane action and deep lore of the fighting game series to the screen.

Sanzigen Studios, known for their work on Sol Badguy’s Find Your One Way music video from Guilty Gear Strive, is back in the driver’s seat for this project. Shigeru Morikawa, who directed Argonavis the Movie: Axia, will helm the series. The lineup also boasts Guilty Gear writer Norimitsu Kaiho handling series composition and Seiji Mizushima, the mastermind behind Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Fullmetal Alchemist, stepping in as associate producer.

The anime will make its grand debut at Anime Expo 2024, set in Los Angeles from July 4-7. Fans lucky enough to attend can catch the first trailer and get the inside scoop at the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers – Special Event panel on July 4 in the Main Events Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. As a bonus, attendees will snag a limited-edition poster, but only while supplies last. The panel will feature key figures like Norimitsu Kaiho, Seiji Mizushima, and Ken Miyauchi, the producer of Guilty Gear Strive.

Since its inception in 1998, Guilty Gear has carved out a legendary status in the fighting game community. The latest installment, Guilty Gear Strive, has surpassed 2.5 million users worldwide and recently introduced a new playable character, Slayer, keeping the hype train rolling.
