For beginner survivors and builders seeking a bit of thrill, Cozy mode offers a guided journey with Slumber, a friendly character who assists players step-by-step.
Cozy Mode Default Settings
Cozy mode combines Survival and Sandbox elements. Here are the default settings, all of which can be changed:
- Enemies: On
- Enemy Difficulty: Easy
- Storm-Wild Enemies: Off
- Hunger: Off
- Temperature: Off
- Stamina: Off
- Player Elimination: Respawn
- Drop Inventory Upon Elimination: Off
- Friendly Creatures: On
- Friendly Damage: Off

Survive a Wild World in Expert Mode
Storm-Wild Enemies
Expert mode introduces Storm-Wild enemies, tougher versions of regular foes affected by a mysterious storm. These enemies deal more damage, have more health, and move faster.

Stronger Enemies
Regular enemies in Expert mode are more formidable than in other modes. Players will need to prepare with powerful weapons like Recurve Crossbows and Longswords.
Perma-Elimination
In Expert mode, losing all hearts results in permanent elimination from the world. Players can use a Totem of Return to avoid permanent elimination, reviving in their bed with their backpack, though the totem is destroyed upon use. Storm Cores, obtained from Storm-Wild enemies, are required to unlock the Totem of Return recipe.
The Totem of the Immortal offers a chance at survival in Expert mode, even without a Totem of Return. Players can still participate in non-Expert worlds or create new Expert worlds if eliminated.
Trophies for Your Bravery
Expert mode players can earn trophies for their survival skills:
- Grasslands Trophy: Defeat a Storm-Wild Brute in the Grasslands and interact with a Level 10 Grasslands Village.
- Dry Valley Trophy: Defeat a Storm-Wild Sand Brute and interact with a Level 10 Dry Valley Village.
- Frostlands Trophy: Defeat a Storm-Wild Frost Brute and interact with a Level 10 Frostlands Village.

When creating a new world in Expert mode, these default settings apply and cannot be changed:

Major Improvements, Adjustments, and Bug Fixes
Low Memory vs. Too Many Constructs Nearby
v30.10 clarifies the reasons for high complexity warnings, differentiating between low memory and too many constructs nearby.
- Low Memory: Reduce overall constructs, number of unique constructs, or items and creatures. Moving away from dense areas or re-entering the world can also help.
- Too Many Constructs Nearby: Spread out constructs, use larger Building Parts, or build in a different location.
Additional Improvements
- Villagers in the Rebel Village no longer count towards the world Villager cap.
- Correct world Villager count displayed in the Village Hub.
- Reduced skeleton spawns in Villages.
- Lava Caves on Star Wars Island now contain Rubies.
- Improved animal behavior around Campfires.
- Wolves can swim.
