Rogue Snail Reclaims Relic Hunters Legend

Indie Studio Reclaims Publishing Rights and Ensures Game Continuity

Rogue Snail, the Brazilian indie game studio, has announced that it has mutually agreed with Gearbox Publishing to part ways. Effective immediately, the publishing rights of Relic Hunters Legend have been returned to Rogue Snail.

During this transition, the Rogue Snail team has worked diligently to establish new servers for the game, ensuring that players experience no interruptions. Additionally, Rogue Snail has introduced a new Offline mode to Relic Hunters Legend, allowing players to access the game for as long as they desire.

Rogue Snail CEO Mark Venturelli expressed optimism about the game’s future and gratitude to the player community and partners for their ongoing support. Relic Hunters Legend has built a dedicated player base over its years of development and is currently a finalist for Best Multiplayer Game at Gamescom LATAM BIG Festival 2024.

Venturelli emphasized the studio’s unwavering commitment to completing Relic Hunters Legend and seeking new partnerships to support the game’s maintenance, development, and growth.

“There’s no other way to put it: this sucks. Gearbox Publishing was the best publishing partner I’ve had in my 16 years in this industry. They are good people, doing the best they can,” stated Venturelli. “They’re heading in a new direction now, but they’ve given us the power and freedom to control Relic Hunters Legend’s future. We are still hard at work on the game and are looking for new partners to hopefully keep doing it for years to come.”

Rogue Snail remains dedicated to finding solutions to ensure the continuity of Relic Hunters Legend and its online presence. While the studio navigates the challenges of securing funding in the current industry landscape, the developers guarantee:

  • Offline Mode
  • Completion of the Main Story
  • Performance and Player Experience Adjustments

The studio will continue to seek resources and partnership opportunities, keeping the player community informed of any significant developments.

This is one of the toughest moments in the studio’s journey since its inception in 2014. Their top priority now is to finish the game in a way that their passionate community deserves and ensure the studio’s survival to continue creating games they are proud of and passionate about.
