Fairyship Games, a US-based developer known for their narrative-driven titles, is gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated action-adventure RPG, Testament: The Order of High Human. The game, set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, is scheduled to launch on Steam and the Epic Store for PC on July 13th, 2023. Xbox and PlayStation versions are also currently in development.
To mark this milestone, Fairyship Games has unveiled a brand new trailer for the game, which showcases the immersive gameplay and captivating storyline that players can expect. In Testament: The Order of High Human, players assume the role of Aran, the king of High Humans in the land of Tessara. The story takes a dark turn when Aran’s brother, Arva, betrays him and strips him of his powers. As the world descends into darkness and becomes infested with ominous creatures, players must guide Aran on a quest to regain his powers, confront Arva, and restore Tessara to its former glory. Along the way, players will have the opportunity to upgrade Aran’s sword, bow, and magic abilities, creating their own distinctive fighting style.
The development of Testament: The Order of High Human has been a labor of love for the 15-person team at Fairyship Games, with over four and a half years dedicated to crafting a rich and engaging gameplay experience. Drawing inspiration from a wide array of games and genres, the studio aims to create a captivating adventure that pays homage to the beloved titles of the past decade.
One of the standout features of the game is its combat system, which offers players three distinct approaches, each with its own unique traits. Sword gameplay allows for devastating and elemental combos, while mastering 16 different magic abilities enables players to unleash a variety of spells, traps, area-of-effect attacks, damage over time effects, and defensive maneuvers. Additionally, a magical bow with various arrow types, such as normal, ricochet, explosive, and passthrough, adds another layer of strategy to combat encounters.
Exploration is a key aspect of Testament: The Order of High Human, with a grand XP and upgrade system that encourages players to delve into every nook and cranny of the game’s diverse landscapes and dungeons. Players can also look forward to engaging platforming sections that harken back to the excitement of retro 2D platformers, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and challenge to the gameplay experience.
The “Eclipse System” is another innovative addition to the game, introducing gameplay entities known as “eyes of darkness” and incorporating three different mechanics that can be used independently or combined to create thrilling encounters and challenges.
