The development team behind Battlefield 2042 has announced the upcoming in-game event, Leviathan Rising, scheduled to take place from April 11th to April 25th. As part of Season 4, the event introduces a new 8v8, 16-player game mode called Shutdown, along with several rewards and store bundles for players to earn or purchase during the two-week event.
Shutdown Mode offers a two-round competitive gameplay experience on smaller, infantry-focused layouts of the Flashpoint, Exposure, Manifest, and Stranded maps. The mode emphasizes teamwork and strategy, with players deploying objectives and experiencing both attacking and defending roles during each match. Classes, complex loadouts, specialists, and transport vehicles all contribute to the distinctive Battlefield experience.
Leviathan Rising will feature a variety of rewards, including legendary outfits and weapon skins, epic outfits, weapon skips, and vehicle skins. Players can earn ribbons by participating in Shutdown to unlock these unique gameplay rewards. Additionally, free bundles will be available to claim in the store, along with three purchasable bundles offering even more content.
During the first week of the event, players can earn the following rewards: the Epic “Contagion” Weapon Charm (15 Ribbons), the Epic “Kilobyte” Weapon Skin for the AK-24 (40 Ribbons), and the Epic “Code Execution” Specialist Set for Paik (75 Ribbons). In the second week, players can unlock the Epic “Marked for Death” Weapon Charm (15 Ribbons), the Rare “Domain Authority” Vehicle Skin for the AH-64GX Apache Warchief (40 Ribbons), and the Epic “Denial of Service” Specialist Set for Casper (75 Ribbons).
Free store items during the event include the Rare “Leviathan Division” Weapon Charm (Week 1) and the Rare “Activation” Weapon Skin for the AM40 (Week 2). Players can also purchase the Activation Store Bundle, Deactivated Store Bundle, and Epic Override Store Bundle for varying amounts of Battlefield Coins.
To excel in Shutdown, players are encouraged to utilize smokes, focus on vulnerable objectives, and adopt successful strategies from the opposing team. Attackers should experiment with Lance placement and leverage their classes, while defenders should guard dropped Lances and learn the map layouts to set up ambushes.
