BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. and Counterplay Games have released the “Trials of Mythron” expansion for the free-to-play, tactical card game Duelyst. Card battlers can unlock more than 100 new cards and two new game mechanics starting today.
The expansion gives players the opportunity to obtain up to seven bonus cards, called Mythron Rarity, by opening Trials of Mythron packs. These Mythron Rarity bonus cards have a unique set of rules, as they cannot be found directly in orbs and do not become disenchanted among other items. The new game mechanic, called Trial and Destiny, rewards players with a special permanent augment (a “Destiny” effect) by fulfilling certain special conditions (known as a “Trial”), adding even more strategic depth to the Duelyst gameplay. Also new to the expansion, the Intensify mechanic lets players make use of a powerful stacking effect for even more tactical possibilities. Intensify appears on Minions and Spells and boosts their power each time that card is played. Since Intensify keeps track of the number of times a card has hit the battlefield, the effects keep stacking and makes revived, cloned and duplicated cards extremely powerful.
