Diablo IV’s latest seasonal event, Season of Blood, is no longer limited to the game world of Sanctuary. A real-life Blood Harvest campaign now allows players in the United States to donate blood, contributing to a life-saving cause while scoring exclusive in-game perks.
In the Season of Blood, players encounter new foes known as Blood Seekers. These minions of Lord Zir engage in Blood Harvest rituals, draining blood from prisoners to further their dark master’s cause. Gamers are tasked with liberating these captives, defeating mini-bosses, and clearing enemy camps in the virtual setting.
In a twist, the game makers are allowing fans to donate actual blood, targeting a grand total of 666 quarts. That equals approximately 1,332 separate donations, given that each donation is around one pint. The initiative aims to help save real lives while rewarding players with in-game benefits.
Milestone Rewards Up for Grabs
When players collectively reach specific milestones in their donations, everyone benefits. These rewards include weapon skins, a special armor set, and even a mount. Here’s a breakdown of what’s available at each tier:
- Tier 1: The 33% Mark
- Players unlock weapon cosmetics, featuring weapons like the Bloodpetal Anlace dagger and the Bloodpetal Sever axe.
- Tier 2: The 66% Threshold
- Additional rewards include The Loch Raeth Maor Barbarian armor set, alongside the previously mentioned weapon cosmetics.
- Tier 3: The Final 100% Goal
- A Vermilion Eye Piebald mount joins the loot pool, along with a chance to enter a sweepstakes for a custom-built PC infused with real human blood in its cooling system.
Sweepstakes Details
Once the community hits the 666-quart donation goal, a 72-hour sweepstakes will begin. This offers Diablo IV fans the opportunity to win a custom PC that pays tribute to the game’s dark themes. Full details and sweepstakes rules are expected to be released separately.
All in-game rewards will be added to players’ Wardrobes and Stables on November 22, provided the donation goal is met by the campaign’s end date on November 20.
So, if you’re a Diablo IV player with a taste for doing good, this Blood Harvest is one ritual you might just want to partake in.
