ESPORTS+CARS driver wins inaugural F1 Esports series

Brendon Leigh took the first ever F1 Esport title in an amazing deciding race that kept the F1 press room, paddock, TV and on-line audiences enthralled. The ESPORTS+CARS driver took the lead in an audacious move on the last lap of a three race series to clam the new virtual title.

ESPORTS+CARS boasted 5 drivers from the 20 qualifiers. In a week where esports racing suddenly became one of the main stories in motorsport, the ESPORTS+CARS driver provided the exciting conclusion.

ESPORTS+CARS Team Principal Darren Cox hailed his new champion and the new dawn for esports racing.

“Brendon drove like a true professional and his character shone through.

“Somehow his finger-wagging is already a GIF!

“I have been involved in the virtual side of our sport for 10 years and have seen it grow, the last 7 days have really seen a tipping point.

“Our Worlds Fastest Gamer project with McLaren is the new reference for esports racing and now to have helped Brendon to this title is the virtual cherry on the cake!”

New F1 Esports Champion Brendon Leigh was humble whilst accepting his victory

“I am so happy and emotional at the moment,” Leigh said.

“This is an amazing moment for me and my sport.

“The two other guys on the podium are amongst the best in the world and I look forward to racing against them again really soon.”

ESPORTS+CARS Performance coach Simon Fitchett was equally full of praise for Brendon.

“During my year in motorsport I have felt a lot of pressure and today was no different,” he said.

“Brendon left it to the last minute to take the win, his calmness was exemplary.

“I have spent some time with the team to provide them with tips and strategies to allow them to deliver their best, and today Brendon made the most of that support that ESPORTS+CARS has provided his drivers.”

Team Manager of ESPORTS+CARS AJ Smith was happy to add another title to the virtual trophy cabinet of ESPORTS+CARS

“Having won most of the championships we have entered over the last 18 months I was confident we would have a good showing – but Brendon overachieved our expectations. He really has a big future ahead of him.”

The second seasons of Worlds Fastest Gamer and F1 Esports are understood to be launched in the new year but it is clear that esports racing is going to be one of the big news stories of both Esports and motorsport in 2018.
