Forged of Blood, the self-touted fantasy X-Com game being developed by the independent studio Critical Forge, is making its way to the Tokyo Game Show this week. Having recently won PopCon Asia’s Most Anticipated Game of the Year Award (Indonesia’s largest pop-culture event) Forged of Blood has been steadily gaining recognition for the complex but rewarding mechanics they are showing. Their hard work and success at the event has garnered the team an invite by Indonesia’s Agency for Creative Economy, and they have been chosen as one of the six local studios to represent Indonesia in the ARCHIPELAGEEK booth.
On the subject of going to the event, Igor Tanzil, Creative Director at the studio says: “Events like these are huge for a tiny studio like us – both for team morale and public exposure. This is something we’ve put so much of ourselves into, and to have it be recognized by our own country’s “Agency for Creative Economy” has been such a great honor. I honestly cannot wait to have more people get their hands on this game.”
Critical Forge will be showcasing a completely updated build of Forged of Blood at the highly anticipated event. All nine weapon classes, two spellcasting archetypes, and updated AI have been implemented since the game’s last showing and will be available to the press and public at the event. As with previous public showings of the game, the team will be listening to player and media feedback regarding the game, but the pressure is definitely on for Tokyo Game Show in particular.
Stoking the fires of excitement within the studio, Milo Winn, Lead Game Designer at the studio quipped: “I’m really looking forward to seeing how our game holds up at the home of turn-based tactical RPGS.”
Also released is a new trailer showing all three featured gameplay layers of the game along with an update video that show’s the team’s hard fought progress in creating their strategic layer.
