HEVN delayed as devs take time to improve game

Developers Miga have announced that their upcoming immersive sim / survival game, HEVN, will be delayed until later in the year as they seek to respond to feedback from players and the press.

A playable demo released last month was largely well-received, with positive hands-on previews from the likes of PC Gamer and God Is A Geek – but the developers have decided to address feedback and improve the game, ensuring the final release is as good as it possibly can be.

Feedback on the game’s pacing, level design and user interface has been especially useful, they said.

“For a small team like ours, spending heavily on QA teams is unfortunately out of our budget, which is one of the reasons why getting a demo in front of players was so important to us,” said HEVN co-creator Mat Mathews.

“The Steam community has been exceptional in helping us to track bugs, and both players and the media have helped us to think more about the way we’re pacing and structuring the game, and how players interact with it.”

Co-creator Larry Johnson added: “We’re planning to iterate on the demo over the coming weeks and months, to keep a public log of what we’re working on. It’s never good to delay games but we want to share improvements with our players as we go.

“While this was a difficult decision to make, we’re confident it’s for the best, and that HEVN will be even better because of it.”

The game was initially slated for release this week, on 19 July, and will now ship later in the year.
