The iconic Kirby, along with his friends, embarks on an exciting journey in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, traversing Planet Popstar and exploring Merry Magoland for engaging subgames. In a thrilling crossover, the 33rd MAXIMUS CUP in Tetris 99 for the Nintendo Switch family of systems integrates the vibrant visuals and sounds from Kirby’s latest escapade, challenging players to emerge victorious as the last one standing.
The Tetris 99 33rd MAXIMUS CUP event is scheduled to run from 12 a.m. PT on April 21st to 11:59 p.m. PT on April 24th. Participation is open to all Nintendo Switch Online members who play Tetris 99’s online mode during the event period. Players will accumulate event points based on their rankings in each match. Upon reaching a total of 100 event points, a new theme will be unlocked, incorporating background art, music, and Tetrimino designs inspired by Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
In Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, up to four players on a single system can join Kirby and his companions on a platforming adventure to locate Magolor’s lost ship pieces and save the day. Players can explore Planet Popstar and confront enemies with various Copy Abilities, including the newly introduced Mecha and Sand Copy Abilities. At Merry Magoland amusement park, players can indulge in entertaining subgames and win in-game rewards. Successfully restoring Magolor’s ship in the main adventure unlocks an additional gameplay mode, titled Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler. In this mode, players take on the role of Magolor and work to regain their lost powers while battling challenging enemies in platforming sequences. Similar to the main adventure, the epilogue can be enjoyed by up to four players on a single system.
