It’s been quite a journey since the first KungFu Kickball arcade cabinet was constructed at MAGFest a few years ago. Initially meant as a one-off project, its success at a bar in Beacon highlighted how perfectly the game fits into the arcade format. Now, after years of planning and collaboration with Fun Company, the cabinets are finally available for purchase.
These machines are crafted by Fun Company, a renowned name in arcade cabinet production, with a portfolio including giants like Nintendo, Namco, and Stern Pinball. The KungFu Kickball cabinets are designed to withstand heavy public use, making them ideal for arcades and bars.
What Makes KungFu Kickball Stand Out?
KungFu Kickball is a team-based fighting sports game that combines elements of classic arcade fun with modern gameplay mechanics. Players can punch, kick, and headbutt their way across the field, aiming to smash the ball into the opponent’s bell to score points. The game supports both 1v1 and 2v2 multiplayer modes, along with a challenging co-op arcade mode and cross-play functionality.
The Cabinet’s Journey
The first cabinet was built live on stage at Super MAGFest 2019, an event showcasing how to build an arcade cabinet from scratch. This hands-on approach not only demonstrated the construction process but also highlighted the game’s appeal in a live setting. Currently, you can find KungFu Kickball cabinets at Wonderville in Bushwick and Happy Valley Arcade in Beacon, NY.
