Art Of Conquest Dev Diary – Ranking system

Hello! Welcome to our first dev diary! Recently, we have been playing around with implementing a ranking system in the different kingdoms. And by ranking, in this case, I mean nobility ranks and titles.

What we had before, was only a level system for the race every player goes through according to the progress he has made with a certain race. Although this is easy to understand, it is not “cool” enough, it’s not fun. It is not something a player would want to show off to fellow players and their friends. Would they want a title such as “Level 3 human” or “Level 4 dwarf”? I wouldn’t.

In order to recreate the Middle Age atmosphere and immerse players minto it, we are now developing a nobility ranking system. First of all, Guilds will be renamed into Houses to better reflect the medieval political setting. There will be seven to nine titles players can have, including Baron, Marquis, Duke, Archduke and Prince. Once a House occupies a city, their leader will ascend to the title of Archduke or even Prince, with their guild mates being their banners with titles of Barons, Dukes etc. And these leaders will even have their title displayed next to their name. For example, a player who controls the House that occupies the city of Tala will be “The Archduke of Tala”.

As players, we need motivation and rewards in the game. As developers of Art of Conquest, we are doing our best to add intriguing elements. This noble ranking system can serve as a huge motivation and it will be ready soon.

As I said, I wouldn’t want a title like “Level 6 Lich”. But walking around on the map with the title of “Prince of Dusty Mesa” next to my name and visible to everybody who sees me, now that’s badass! We hope you enjoy it!
