What legacy would you choose to build if given the chance? That’s the question Winterfall will ask its players. An open-world third-person RPG set in a dark age where your House must thrive as the end of time comes near, Winterfall will get players to explore the wilderness, in order to find artifacts and rebuild their Sanctuary, uncovering lost knowledge in the process.
Inspired by the wilds of Corsica where the developer grew up, the wilderness environments, each with their own gameplay systems and atmosphere, will resonate differently with each character the player creates for their House. The project lead, Fab Mariani, feels this focus on gameplay systems which would let players’ choices have a larger impact, is the right direction for Winterfall:
“I have long been frustrated by the focus on ‘content’, believing, from tabletop RPGs and fun experiences with all kinds of games, that focusing on systems instead would make for far more engaging experiences. Winterfall is my long-laboured attempt to explore that point.”
