PQube has announced the upcoming release of the nostalgia-inspired visual novel ‘ghostpia’ on Nintendo Switch, set to launch on May 23rd, 2023. The unique ghost story follows the journey of Sayoko, a forgetful ghost attempting to remember her past and purpose. Featuring a distinctive and nostalgic art style, ‘ghostpia’ immerses players in the mysteries shrouding Sayoko’s forgotten memories.

The linear narrative in ‘ghostpia’ allows players to sit back and delve into the storyline as they would a movie, while the game’s dark humor shines through with death rendered pointless by unending resurrection. Players can expect unexpected twists, with the gentle music and soft aesthetic of the game contrasting with its shockingly brutal story. Despite the static artwork, perspectives shift rapidly, revealing dramatic truths one after another.

Sayoko’s friends and fellow characters in ‘ghostpia’ are an eclectic mix, each with their own peculiarities, yet they are perfectly suited for one another. The hand-drawn art style showcases the game’s soft, isolated atmosphere, set in a snowy town designed to evoke feelings of nostalgia.

‘ghostpia’ is making its Western debut after initially being released exclusively in Japan for mobile and web browsers. The Nintendo Switch version will include new music, higher resolution illustrations, and more intricate animations. Preorders for ‘ghostpia’ will be available on the eShop starting April 29th, 2023, with a 10% preorder discount.

Fans of nostalgic visual novels can look forward to the release of ‘ghostpia’ on Nintendo Switch on May 23rd, 2023.
