Saddle Up for Hearthstone’s Showdown in the Badlands

YouTube video

Hearthstone fans, mark your calendars for November, because that’s when the game rides into the Wild West with its upcoming expansion, Showdown in the Badlands. The nefarious Bloodrock Mining Company, steered by Sheriff Barrelbrim, has set its sights on draining Azeroth of its Azerite wealth. The spotlight’s also on some fan-favorite outlaws, like Elise Starseeker, who’re set to counter the villainous townsfolk. Pre-purchases are live, offering access to a collection of 145 fresh cards, complete with new Keywords—Quickdraw and Excavate.

Loot Up with Pre-Purchase Bundles

The expansion offers two types of pre-purchase bundles. The Mega Bundle comes packed with 80 packs, 10 golden packs, one random signature Legendary, one random golden Legendary, and additional cosmetics like the Ulfar Hero Skin and card back. Opting for the Standard Bundle will get you 60 packs and two non-golden random Legendary cards, along with the Ulfar card back.

Welcome Gift: Legendary Thunderbringer

Starting October 17, all players logging into Hearthstone will find a new card waiting in their collection—the Legendary Thunderbringer. This card features Taunt and a Deathrattle that summons an Elemental and Beast from your deck.

Fresh Mechanics: Quickdraw and Excavate

The new expansion isn’t just about new cards; it’s also introducing fresh mechanics to shake up gameplay. Cards tagged with the Quickdraw keyword get a bonus when played on the same turn they’re drawn. Meanwhile, the Excavate keyword lets you dig for Azerite treasures. Every time you use an Excavate card, you’ll advance through mining tiers, collecting random rewards until the mine is tapped out.

Class-Specific Legendary Treasures and Outlaws

Class-specific Legendary Excavate Treasures are up for grabs, available only to Death Knight, Mage, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior classes. On the other side of the spectrum are the good-guy Legendary Outlaws, designated for Demon Hunter, Druid, Hunter, Paladin, Priest, and Shaman. These Outlaws offer a bonus effect if your deck has no duplicates.

Upcoming Events: November Season of Twist and Hallow’s End

For those itching for more, the November Season of Twist is slated to feature cards from the Un’Goro and Wonders sets. However, note that Demon Hunter and Death Knight classes won’t be part of this season. Plus, the Hallow’s End event makes a comeback, complete with special BlizzCon quests and wild west cosmetic rewards for your heroes.
