“Ship of Heroes” Presents at PAX West 2017 Panel Discussion on Designing a New Superhero MMO

Indie game to preview significant progress and details on alpha tests at show.

Heroic Games has confirmed that their Founder and CEO, Casey McGeever, will join a panel discussion with Nate Downes, President of Missing Worlds Media, and Chad DuLac, COO of Silverhelm Studios, to discuss the creation of uniquely new superhero MMOs at PAX West 2017. The panel discussion, “A Home for Heroes” takes place on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 8 PM in the Werecat Theatre.

“This is a great opportunity to speak with our audience at one of the most important gaming conferences of the year,” McGeever said. “Ship of Heroes has had a spectacular year of progress and we are happy to share what we’ve learned and accomplished over the past year. Our goal and the goal of our audience is to create something new that harkens back to MMOs they knew and loved – with flexible character creation, great game play, and a positive community.”

At PAX West, McGeever will be showing a working, integrated prototype of Ship of Heroes including a preview of the newest incarnation of the character creator, upgraded character models and costumes, and a new powerset.  There have also been improvements to the playing areas within Apotheosis City, revealing a more finished our vision of a generation ship in the 25th century.”

“Our players want to fly, to fight, and to progress, and they also want to have compelling, immersive content to play through.  A big part of the experience we provide is a unique environment that is like nothing else out there, with a setting and story that is different from any other superhero game, all made possible by custom art, animations, FX, and UI.  Ship of Heroes truly is a game like no other.”

In recent months, the team at Heroic Games has upgraded the male models in Ship of Heroes, extended the complexity and realism of the playing environment, and released a number of technical demonstration videos showing new and unique mission map areas, teaming functionality, and instanced mission capabilities.  These features are central to the traditional large MMO experience, which relies on deep stories and an immersive setting to keep players interested, and to provide incentives for replaying content.

Ship of Heroes developers will begin focused alpha tests at the end of 2017 and will soft-launch a streamlined version of the game by late December, 2018.

Ship of Heroes is a new superhero MMORPG that combines the best elements of space and hero games aboard a generation ship traveling the galaxy 500 years in the future.  Ship of Heroes will have both PVE and PVP content, along with complex harvesting, crafting, trading, and combat features.  The game promises a family-friendly environment, along with an innovative storyline that allows players to explore the gigantic generation ship, join raids and counter-raids against alien ships, and land on multiple worlds as the Justice moves through space.  The developers began work on the title just seventeen months ago, and are hitting a very rapid development schedule; Heroic Games has already shown an impressive amount of high-quality in-game content, especially for a pre-Alpha MMO.
