Some of the Best Lion-themed Video Games

The lion is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and inspirational animals in the world. It is associated with power and courage and because of that, it is commonly used as a symbol for countries, groups of people, and individuals. Mentions of lions can be found in books, movies, drawings and video games.

From Lion King to Elden Ring and from Wo Long to Slot Games

Lions are used in video games more often than one thinks. From the not-so-successful Godfall, which was released as a launch special for the PS5 to popular slot games such as Playtech’s White King, which players can enjoy by visiting popular online casinos. Lion-themed games will always make players curious about them and, on many occasions, players will want to play them just because there is a mention of this magnificent beast somewhere in the game.

The lion is the trademark of one of the best ninth-generation games. In FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, the lion is not just an image on the cover. Players can wear lion-crested armour and carry lion-themed weapons such as the Lion’s Claw. Apart from all the gear, players can also challenge and fight enemies such as the Lion Guardian. Elden Ring is an amazing game, but if you decide to start playing it, then prepare yourself for the tough road ahead. Just like every other FromSoftware game, Elden Ring is not just hard to beat. It is a game that works against the player and this means that you will have to die over and over again until you have identified the strategy that works well against your enemies.

Another lion-themed game with a very similar gameplay and a very similar level of difficulty is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The latest TeamNinja project is not as hard as Elden Ring, but it is just as difficult as any other Souls-like game. Just like in Sekiro, your first playthrough is going to be tougher than you think. However, as you progress and as you unlock wizardry spells such as Lion’s Roar, things will start getting a little bit more manageable. This does not mean that you will stop dying of course, but it is definitely going to make the game a little bit easier.

Is Wo Long Worth Buying?

If you are a fan of Nioh and if you enjoy Souls-like games, then Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will probably be worth your time. The two games are not identical, but they have a lot of similarities. In a way, it is like TeamNinja took Nioh, improved the user experience and then switched the gaming environment, taking the action from Japan to China. Wo Long does better when it comes to acquiring new gear, to managing your inventory, and to using the equipment and skills you learn as you develop your character. Nioh had more RPG functionalities of course, but Wo Long delivers a much better adventure experience. This mission-based linear RPG lets the player focus on the things that matter and even though the gameplay duration is shorter, it is still worth your time and money.
