Upsilon Circuit canceled, Perma Permadeath is dead but it’s world lives on!

Robot Loves Kitty has announced that they are ceasing production on Upsilon Circuit, their Perma-Permadeath Video Game Show that got the attention of millions when it was announced in 2014.

They stated that funding was the primary issue, they said that the big troubles throughout the project included: Scope, pushing beyond their capabilities, and overwhelming stress.

As a self taught indie duo, running a team or working with partners was something they had no experience with, and the project became a constant source of stress.

When they lost their partner in the middle of a failing crowdfunding campaign, they had no option but to send their team home.

Alix Stolzer, co-founder of Robot Loves Kitty commented on the situation: “We just wanted to make this game we were both so passionate about, and we were sacrificing so much to do it. When things fell apart it left both of us feeling overwhelmingly sad, angry, ashamed, and depressed.”

It’s been a year, and after many conversations, the duo have no solutions for bringing back UC.
Instead, they have been working on a game called Super Tony Land, which will be the first of multiple games that will be part of UC’s legacy.

Super Tony Land is a physics platforming adventure game that has many worlds, a story, and easy access to countless user created levels and entire game worlds.
Imagine if Cave story, Mario Maker, and Besiege had a dynamically lit baby.

In Upsilon Circuit, the devs wanted to give power to the audience, to experience the player’s stories unfolding, and to encourage streamer audience connectivity. To bring those ideas to Super Tony Land, they created an extensive level editor that has visual programming blocks, connectable levels, and NPC/Story tools. The level editor will be available for free, so anyone can create challenges or worlds and share them with their favorite streamers or friends that have the full game.

Super Tony Land will be $14.99 and will be available on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux this spring.
