Airship Syndicate and Digital Extremes introduce Wayfinder, an online action RPG with a focus on exploration and character-based gameplay. The game is set to launch into Early Access for PC (Steam) and PlayStation on Tuesday, August 15th.
Airship Syndicate, known for their popular titles such as Battle Chasers: Nightwar and Darksiders Genesis, teams up with Digital Extremes, the creator of Warframe, to bring gamers an exciting new online action RPG called Wayfinder. The highly anticipated game will enter Early Access on PC (Steam) and PlayStation on August 15, offering players an immersive and character-driven experience.
During a premier comics convention in San Diego, the game director Steve Madureira and Airship Syndicate’s Marketing and Community Team revealed a new anime short and provided a comprehensive gameplay breakdown. These unveilings showcased the introduction of a new character, Venomess, a deadly assassin and playable Wayfinder, who will be available when the game launches in Early Access.
Creative Director Joe Madureira expressed his excitement about the upcoming Early Access release, stating, “Early Access is a huge milestone for the entire studio. Traditionally we’ve shipped boxed games like Darksiders Genesis or Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, and moved onto the next project. It’s incredibly exciting that this truly is the start.”
In addition to showcasing Venomess and her gameplay, the Wayfinder Early Access Showcase provided further insights into the game’s features and content. The event highlighted the Founder program, the in-game housing system, and the Reward Tower, a unique approach to the traditional Battle Pass formula.
Steve Madureira, the Game Director, emphasized the importance of player feedback in shaping Wayfinder during its beta testing phase. “We’ve run quite a few incredibly successful beta tests with thousands of players around the world. Those tests gave us great insight, and we’ve made some awesome changes based on player feedback for Early Access. We plan to continue that trend so we have a solid foundation going into our full Free-to-Play release.”
Early Access Offers an Endless Adventure with Friends
Starting on August 15th, players on PC and PlayStation can immerse themselves in Wayfinder’s Early Access. The game will support full Cross Play and Cross Save functionality, allowing players to connect and play with friends across different platforms. To participate in Early Access, players can purchase a Founder’s Pack, which provides access to two seasons of Early Access content and exclusive, time-limited rewards.
Wayfinder Founder’s Packs are available in four tiers: Base Pack, Initiate Pack, Awakened Pack, and Exalted Pack. Each tier offers various rewards and benefits, with premium options providing more exclusive rewards and iconic items. Players have the flexibility to upgrade their Founder’s Pack at any time during Early Access.
Unlock Powerful Rewards and Customize Your Experience
Founder’s Packs grant players instant access to Venomess, a formidable “Heroic” version of the warmage Kyros. Additionally, players gain access to the Reward Tower, Wayfinder’s unique take on the Battle Pass concept. The Reward Tower allows players to earn up to 100 different items that never expire, providing a customizable and rewarding experience.
Throughout Early Access, players can explore Wayfinder’s interactive Reward Tower and unlock various rooms containing exclusive characters, Sprays, Charms, Pets, and other cosmetic enhancements. The Reward Tower remains accessible even after the purchase and offers players the freedom to engage with it at their own pace.
Apart from the Reward Tower, all players will have access to an Apartment, an in-game housing system where they can equip powerful artifacts, granting their Wayfinders buffs and boons. The Apartment also serves as a personal space that players can decorate according to their preferences.
A Fresh Take on the Battle Pass Formula
Wayfinder’s Reward Tower provides a unique and interactive Battle Pass experience. Each Founder’s Pack offers different levels of access to the Reward Tower for Seasons 1 and 2. As players progress, level up, and earn keys, they can unlock rooms in the Tower containing exclusive characters, Sprays, Charms, Pets, and other cosmetic enhancements.
One of the key advantages of Wayfinder’s Reward Tower is that it never expires once purchased. Players can access it at any time, allowing them to fully enjoy the content and choose the rewards that matter most to them.
