Core Keeper, the popular mining sandbox adventure game, is set to launch its highly anticipated ‘Paws & Claws Update’ as a free content update on May 10th. The update introduces pets, farm animals, a new Meadow sub-biome, and the long-awaited Creative Mode, giving players even more options to explore and enjoy the game.

The Paws & Claws Update adds pets to Core Keeper for the first time, offering players the chance to discover and raise five new cuddly companions. The Subterrier, Fanhare, Embertail, Jr Slimes, and Owlux each come with unique abilities that players can utilize in battle. To unlock these abilities, players must care for their pets, feeding them to gain experience and teach them new skills.

In addition to pets, the update introduces the Meadow sub-biome, where players can encounter farm animals such as Moolins, Bambucks, and the crustacean-like Strolly Poly. By caring for these animals, players can farm valuable materials like milk, wool, and Strolly Poly plates.

The new Creative Mode allows players to construct their ideal underground bases without the need to gather resources or fend off enemy attacks. This mode offers a more passive, leisurely pace for players looking to focus on building and design.

The Paws & Claws Update also includes a range of community-requested features, such as object rotation, buckets, improved combat mechanics, and a new craftable glass material with customizable refractive lighting effects and paint options. These features enable players to create even more visually impressive bases.

Fredrik Präntare, Chief Executive Officer & Creative Director at Pugstorm, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming update, stating, “The Paws & Claws Update has been the most fun update to work on yet, and we can’t wait for players to discover all the adorable animals we have coming to Core Keeper next month.” He added that the new pets and highly-requested features like buckets and rotational objects would enhance the player experience.

Core Keeper is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access, with the Paws & Claws Update set to launch on May 10th.
