Devcom 2023 Conference Amps Up Safety Measures and Unveils Final Program Schedule

Devcom to Promote Safer Spaces and Introduce New Industry Highlights

Enhanced Safety Measures for Devcom 2023 Conference

Three weeks ahead of the highly anticipated Devcom Developer Conference 2023, slated for August 20-22 in Cologne, conference organizers have revealed their comprehensive plans to strengthen safety measures. The conference is renowned for its commitment to creating an inclusive, oppression and harassment-free environment for all participants, including attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors. This year, they aim to bolster this commitment through several initiatives, which comply with their Code of Conduct & Anti-Harassment Policy and gamescom’s Safe Space Policy.

Devcom’s Augmented On-site Measures for Participant Safety

Building on the inclusive and safety-oriented measures currently in place, Devcom is expanding its on-site precautions. These initiatives encompass the establishment of a specially trained Awareness Team, providing an additional layer of safety and acting as direct contact for attendees. The conference will also offer free anti-spike kits, in response to recent challenges encountered at other industry events. Both measures will be operational during the conference and all Devcom-conducted side events on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Devcom’s Continued Advocacy for Safer Spaces and Inclusion

Devcom’s managing director, Stephan Reichart, underscores the organization’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a positive event experience. He cites the tireless work of Astrid Gooding, a Women in Games Ambassador and team member, who passionately advocates for safer spaces, diversity, and inclusion. This dedication extends beyond the conference, with plans to host an online summit and roundtable discussing safer spaces for industry events later in the year, where they’ll be inviting international event organizers to contribute.

Finalized Program Schedule and Conference Highlights

With these improved safety measures in place, Devcom has also unveiled its conference program, boasting over 200 speakers and 130 sessions covering 14 industry topics. Kenji Matsubara, President of SNK Corporation, and Sharon Fisher, Head of Safety at Keywords Studios, are among the latest additions to the speaker line-up. Matsubara will delve into IP creation and brand awareness, while Fisher will guide attendees on constructing a game community with a health-first mindset.

Spotlight on New Speaker Sessions

Composer Inon Zur will conduct a session on the creation process of scores from popular games such as Starfield, Fallout, and Outriders, catering to audiophile attendees. John Johanas, Game Director at Tango Gameworks, will discuss their unique approach to combining music and action game genres in the creation of Hi-Fi RUSH.

The final schedule will be revealed in the upcoming days, promising an exciting, insightful, and safe experience for all industry professionals at Devcom Developer Conference 2023, both in-person in Cologne and online.
