Twisted Ramble Games is set to release Duru – About Mole Rats and Depression, a 2D puzzle platformer that delves into mental health and friendship, on Steam for Windows PC and Mac on May 5th, 2023. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned for release following the initial launch.

The game follows Tuli, a gatherer in a South African mole rat colony, as she contends with Bel, a shadowy creature symbolizing her growing depression. Players will guide Tuli on her journey through the colony’s tunnels, overcoming Bel’s obstructions and learning to step out of the shadows.

Duru features a human story about mental health, friendship, perseverance, and triumph, told through pictographs and hand-drawn art that transcends language barriers. Players will navigate beautifully illustrated and animated locations, drawing objects and items to solve puzzles and progress through the game. Balancing Bel’s destructive behaviors is key to helping Tuli overcome her insecurities and depression.

Kerstin Schütt, Narrative Designer at Twisted Ramble Games, expressed hope that Tuli’s struggles and her path to overcoming them would resonate with players worldwide, reminding them that hope springs eternal.

Duru – About Mole Rats and Depression will be available on Steam for Windows PC and Mac on May 5th, 2023, at a price of $19.99/19,99€.

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch
