KOEI TECMO Partners with Omega Force for New Gameplay Experiences
KOEI TECMO America, alongside development team Omega Force and collaborators TYPE-MOON and Aniplex Inc., has dropped a fresh trailer for the upcoming action RPG, Fate/Samurai Remnant. The trailer immerses players in the streets of Edo, showcasing the game’s deeper narrative elements. Set to the tune of the game’s main theme “Zanya Gensou feat. LICCA / Spiral Ladder”, Fate/Samurai Remnant is scheduled to hit PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Nintendo Switch™, and Windows PC via Steam® on September 29, 2023.
The Holy Grail War Takes a Samurai Turn
Expanding on the popular Fate franchise, the game propels players into the historical backdrop of Edo Period Japan. Gamers assume the role of young samurai Miyamoto Iori, who is joined by his Servant Saber. Together they navigate the “Waxing Moon Ritual”, an intricate battle between seven pairs of Masters and Servants, deep in the shadows of Edo.
Exploration, Side Quests, and Edo Culture
Controlling Iori allows gamers to explore Edo’s districts. From shops like “Babyloni-ya” to renowned landmarks, players will interact with various Servants and take on side quests for currency and vital materials. Not just a sightseer, Iori can also mediate disputes, adding a layer of complexity to the gameplay.
Dynamic Mapping and Sub-Quests
Players are aided by an interactive world map that displays their next storyline target. The map also features Saber’s marked points of interest, along with suggestions for sub-quests, known as “Digressions”, from Rogue Servants. These Digressions serve to strengthen bonds with these rogue elements, enriching the game’s depth.
Skill Trees and Combat Customization
In preparation for fierce battles, players can optimize skill trees for Iori, Saber, and Rogue Servants. Skill and ability customization extends to weapon mountings and Saber’s “Memento Ring”, enabling players to unlock new combat features like Link Strikes.
Battle Gauges and Gameplay Mechanics
Combat in Fate/Samurai Remnant involves monitoring three critical gauges: the “Affinity Gauge”, “Substitution Gauge”, and “Hidden Sword Gauge”. These gauges influence everything from powerful attacks to character control, offering layered combat dynamics.
Upcoming Tokyo Game Show Livestream
Fans should mark their calendars for September 21, 2023. A special livestream is planned during Tokyo Game Show 2023, which will air at 06:00 PST on KOEI TECMO Japan’s official YouTube channel. The stream will showcase new gameplay and feature voice actors Kengo Kawanishi (Iori Miyamoto), Hibiku Yamamura (Saber), and Tomoaki Maeno (Zheng Chenggong).
