Five Things “WWE 2K20” Could Use

The “WWE 2K” franchise is an okay game series at best, and while it sells quite well for a series that’s released every year, it always feels like it’s not living up to its full potential. With every entry into this series, something is either added to the game, taken away, or both. Regardless of the fact that fans of this series have taken each release in stride, you won’t be surprised to see someone asking for something new to be added to the series or for the gameplay to return to the days of “SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain” (a PS2 era game) or “No Mercy” (an N64 era game). Let’s take a look at the 5 things I think “WWE 2K20” could use to succeed.

Starting right off the bat is online connectivity. It seems as though every year when a new title is released, not much is done about online gameplay. While new content is added to the mode each year, there’s still a major  issue with its connection to servers. Someone could be playing with pretty good internet speed but the game will lag to the point where you will lose in-game voice chat and, on rare occasions, even lose connection with the other player. It’s the year 2019 … and this is still an issue for the series ever since 2K has taken the reigns with 2K15. Hopefully, this feature will be worked on.

Next would be the return of or the debut of new match types. Every year, each game entry has removed match types and updated ones … and people are frustrated as some of the match types (like “Casket Match” or”I Quit Match”) haven’t been in the game for quite some time. Meanwhile, others (like “Hell In A Cell”), always feel like they’re lacking— even when updated. If the new development team, Visual Concepts, is working on this game, we could see some new matches added back in and others fixed altogether.

Third is game modes. Each year, we have exhibition mode, MyCareer mode, universe mode, 2K Towers, Cration Suite, and (of course) Online … but so far as game modes go, the most requested mode people want back is GM Mode. During WWE SmackDown Vs Raw games, this mode was introduced as the shows on TV were two separate brands — the red brand called Raw and the blue brand named SmackDown. After the two brands (or as the brand extension ended on TV) the mode was removed from future game installments. Since the brand extension returned, people want the game mode to return as well since it was a popular mode then and now … thanks to people streaming those games on YouTube and Twitch.

A fourth aspect would be a better, more robust creation suite. Over the years, people wave been able to create characters, arenas to fight in, championships, an entrance video, and a finisher. Sadly, the last one I mentioned was removed for no real reason. This was another popular feature that people loved to use! Bringing it back would make fans happy and allow more freedom in creation.

Lastly, countless people would love to see some more arcade elements added to the series. Bighead mode and block bodies were a nice addition to the series in 2K19, as playing a simulated pro-wrestling game can start to get boring after a set amount of time. Amazingly, 2K seems to be doing something about it with WWE 2K20 Originals. Hopefully, this will continue to be a thing!

These are just a few changes that the game could use to better the series, but there are so many others as well … but for now, let’s look forward to “WWE 2K20” when it releases on October 22nd.
