The popular Half-Life comic – which started life as a fan project before acquiring an official license from Valve for commercial release – now has over 75,000 readers on Steam. The latest issue, A Spy in the House of Long, takes place in the immediate aftermath of Chapter 3, and deals with the ramifications and fallout of… well, let’s not spoil things, shall we?

“We started work on Chapter 4 since before we even released Chapter 3, and we’re extremely proud of the result,” said co-creator Ross Joseph Gardner.

He added: “While we’re pleased with all the chapters we’ve put out, and the quality on display from all our wonderful artists, we really feel that Chapter 4 marks a significant leap in quality to us. A Place In The West started out as a fan project, and I think since then the comic has really come into its own. We couldn’t be more excited about taking the story forward.”

The release comes just 10 days after the 19th anniversary of the release of Half-Life.

Once inside, they discover a powerful secret – but the city holds many dangers, and deceptive temptations.

Faced with warring clans, diabolical experiments, a treacherous conspiracy, and the growing shadow of the Combine, they must unlock New Franklin’s mysteries before it’s too late – and the lives of everyone in the city hang in the balance.
