Havendock, a peaceful ocean-based colony simulation game, is set to arrive on Steam Early Access on April 20th. Developed by solo developer Yeo Ying Zhi, also known as YYZ, the game has garnered interest from over 100,000 players who have played the demo on Steam.
In Havendock, players will build a settlement in the middle of the ocean, providing a haven for themselves and other castaways. As the hero, players will begin by collecting driftwood and obtaining drinkable water, eventually taking up farming and cooking delicious meals. As the game progresses, players might find themselves exploring the ocean floor in a submarine or even taking to the skies in a rocket while their settlers enjoy themselves on the dance floor.
The game focuses on providing a zen-like experience rather than a survival challenge. With the support of the Havendock community, YYZ and indie publisher Different Tales aim to expand and improve the game’s content.
Havendock allows players to automate tasks and production to keep everyone happy and healthy. As more settlers join, players can teach them how to help and automate tasks, with some even performed by animals or advanced robots. Players can also set sail to explore neighboring islands, gathering valuable resources to expand their town. As the settlement develops, access to advanced technologies becomes available, enabling the construction of submarines and other inventive creations.
Havendock will also feature an experimental multiplayer mode, allowing players to invite friends for cooperative play. The developer warns, however, that this work-in-progress mode may have a significant number of bugs.
Havendock will be available on Steam Early Access starting April 20th.
