MIKE SHINODA TO LIVE COMPOSE GAMESCOM: OPENING NIGHT LIVE

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, join Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda live on Twitch as he composes an instrumental theme song for gamescom: Opening Night Live, a global, all-digital showcase of the hottest and most anticipated upcoming games, produced by Geoff Keighley (The Game Awards). Opening Night Live which streams live around the world on Thursday, August 27.

Shinoda, a longtime gamer, has been livestreaming his creative process and collaborating with fans almost daily on Twitch since the start of quarantine. The results are the recently released albums Dropped Frames, Volume 1 and Dropped Frames, Volume 2, with a third and final volume set to be released soon. During Wednesday’s livestream, Shinoda will compose an instrumental theme song that will be used to promote gamescom: Opening Night Live. Ten years ago, Shinoda attended gamescom 2010 to promote Linkin Park’s work scoring the game Medal of Honor.

“I’ve had so much fun this summer on Twitch making songs and gaming, so I’m thrilled to be making the theme song for this year’s GamesCom,” said Mike Shinoda. 

“Mike’s livestreams have been one of the bright spots this summer, and a fascinating look into his creative process,” said Geoff Keighley, producer, gamescom: Opening Night Live. “We are thrilled Mike is writing a theme to celebrate games, and giving fans a front row seat to see him write it live on Twitch.”
