Ubisoft drops another bombshell with the launch of Rainbow Six Siege Year 8 Season 3, titled Operation Heavy Mettle. This update packs a new South Korean Operator, Ram, a revamped Commendation System, and key gameplay changes, including a Quick Match overhaul.
Meet Ram: The South Korean Powerhouse
New Attacker Ram enters the Siege battlefield equipped with her BU-GI Auto-Breacher gadget. These automated tanks are game-changers, capable of annihilating walls, floors, and player gadgets. Ram comes with a loadout that offers an R4C or an LMG-E as primary options, and a MK1 or an ITA12S for secondary firepower. With a stat line of one speed and three health, Ram is poised to make a lasting impact.
Applause for the Commendation System
Siege players can now give props to their teammates and even opponents through the new Commendation System. This feature aims for a more appreciative and fair gaming environment, with highly commended players scoring some extra in-game rewards.
Quick Match and More: Gameplay Upgrades
The Quick Match mode receives a facelift with faster rounds, pre-revealed objective locations, and pre-set bomb sites. To protect Attackers from spawn peeking, a 10-second invulnerability has been implemented at the start of the Action Phase. The Unranked playlist gets a rebrand to Standard, ditching Operator and map ban phases.
Dive Into the New Arcade Mode: Weapons Roulette
An exhilarating addition to the Arcade playlist, Weapons Roulette levels the playing field by giving all players the same weapon, which changes after a set period. The mode promises fast-paced action and a refreshing gameplay twist.
Weapon and Operator Tweaks
Fuze gains the ability to deploy Cluster Charges on Deployable Shields and Osa’s Talon-8 Shields. Meanwhile, the Operator Grim receives part two of his buff, and the shotgun ecosystem sees significant enhancements. Keep an eye out for a reworked Operator Frost, launching later this season.
Fresh Tools for Newbies and Content Creators
Operation Heavy Mettle includes Tutorials designed to ease newcomers into the Siege universe. For content creators, the HUD can now be toggled off to capture those perfect moments in spectator mode. The Y8S3 Battle Pass offers immediate Ram unlock, 18 Bravo packs, a Bravo token, and 600 Rainbow Six credits back.
Tennis Star Daniil Medvedev Joins Siege as Game Ambassador
In a surprising partnership, international tennis star Daniil Medvedev is the new Game Ambassador for Rainbow Six Siege. With 3000 hours and a Diamond ranking under his belt, Medvedev will collaborate on early content and feature testing, as well as an exclusive in-game character skin set to drop in 2024.
