Superstatic, the acclaimed Polish developer, and Anshar Publishing, the publisher, have announced that Liberté, their forthcoming deck-builder roguelite set during the French Revolution, will be available on Steam from May 23rd, 2023.
Liberté combines fast-paced combat and deck-building mechanics, immersing players in the war-torn streets of Paris as René, a civilian embroiled in a massive intrigue between the four most influential factions in the city. But this isn’t your typical French Revolution tale; players will need to collect cards, nurture alliances, and uncover the truth behind Lady Bliss, the cryptic invader from another dimension.
In Liberté, players unlock cards and build decks that unlock skills, passives, and game-changing mechanics to make their avatars stronger. They can mix and match from over 100 skill and talent cards, from guns-blazing to cutting through enemies with blades and axes, hitting them with a guitar or singing the revolutionary song! They can lead René in his human form or use the skin-shifter ability to play as one of the characters: Master Hunter Victor, Tribal Warrior Flea, or Revolt Leader Ana.
Players will encounter powerful enemies and face the curses of the Bliss, so it is crucial to come prepared. They must unravel the horrifying mystery of the Bliss, guarded by the all-mighty Eldritches, in the dangerous gardens of the Bliss. As they do the monster’s bidding, they will uncover the mystery of who Lady Bliss is and why she chose them for her secret mission.
The game immerses players in over 40 hours of dialogue inspired by real French Revolution events, characters, and architecture. They will witness a tug of war with four unique factions to support, with the option to choose a side to unlock additional rewards.
