Background Buzz: The Satirical World of It’s Only Money

Today marks a significant update for the indie sensation It’s Only Money, known for its tongue-in-cheek nod to classic open-world mayhem. In collaboration, Firestoke and Usual Suspects unleash Chapter Two, enhancing this third-person open world simulation that’s rapidly won over players with its mix of satire and thrilling gameplay. Available in Early Access on Steam, the game has been drawing rave reviews for its innovative approach and multiplayer fun.

Set in the grimy underbelly of Rockhaven, players start their journey in the depths of the city’s sewers and subways, thanks to a nefarious scheme by the town’s corrupt mayor. From these humble beginnings, your mission is clear: ascend to the surface and dismantle the corporate empire bolstering the mayor’s regime. The game’s rich narrative allows players to claw their way from societal bottom to the zenith of urban power, acquiring houses, businesses, and flashy vehicles along the way.

What’s New: Chapter Two Highlights

The freshly dropped Chapter Two update brings several eagerly awaited enhancements that make now the perfect time to dive into Rockhaven’s vibrant chaos. Vehicle mechanics and AI have received a significant overhaul for a smoother ride through the city’s bustling streets. A suite of new features including purchasable garages, a fleet of cars, a personal valet, and extensive customization options for your rides promises to enrich your criminal escapades.

This update also introduces the game’s first ‘Side Hustle’ – ShipPost. Additionally, players can look forward to zipping around on newly added bikes and scooters, snapping up new properties, and updating their wardrobes with the latest fashions. The gaming experience is further amplified with expanded rewards from chests and quests, ensuring each player’s actions are as rewarding as they are entertaining.

Live a Little: Gameplay and Activities

Rockhaven isn’t just about the hustle; it’s a playground of possibilities. Engage in an array of activities from high-stakes missions to leisurely urban exploration. Fancy a bit of mischief? Pickpocket the wealthy, crack open cars to swipe goodies, or take them for a joyride. If the mood strikes, throw down with the local police, or unwind with gourmet delights at Mayor Mart. And for those who play well with others, the game supports teaming up with friends or online randoms for shared missions, communal hangouts, or a bit of friendly competition in various PvP mini-games like Prop Hunt – a hilarious twist on hide and seek using the urban environment as your disguise.

Voices from the Development: Creator Insights

Firestoke’s CEO, Paul Farley, shared a light-hearted perspective on the ongoing development, “Despite our best efforts the developer keeps adding new content to the game, so we don’t have much choice other than releasing it to keep them happy. It does create a lot of extra work for us so hopefully we get a few new sales as a result. It seems this time they’ve fixed some shoddy design work and some bugs as well, so what’s not to like?”

Echoing this sentiment, Aaron Alexander of Usual Suspects, added with a hint of jest, “Some people from ‘Scotland’, which apparently is a country we’re not entirely convinced exists, agreed to publish our game and asked us for a quote for this. They basically own us now, so I guess I have to do it. Please come and join us on the It’s Only Money Discord server – don’t worry, this is run by us…for now.”
