The event had a large international representation with teams from Europe, Australia and Latin America all finishing in the top 12 – the best showing by international teams ever. However, the most surprising moment of the weekend was OpTic Gaming, reigning champ and the most dominant team in Gears Esports history, finishing in 4th place after being eliminated by Ronin, the top Latin American team, who finished third. Early favorites Echo Fox and eUnited also failed to live up to expectations and were eliminated early on championship Sunday. Additionally, Ghost Gaming player Yadiel “Sleepytime” Hildago was profiled featuring his struggles and journey to become one the top players in Gears of War Esports.
