Seaven Studio, in collaboration with French solo developer Blobfish, is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Space Gladiators on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on May 4th. Space Gladiators, a 2D hand-drawn roguelite platformer, delivers engaging gameplay, quirky art, and a unique vibe that has already captivated players on Steam.
Space Gladiators showcases similar elements to Brotato, such as tight controls, an array of build options, and the distinct space-faring potato theme. However, Space Gladiators adopts a side-scrolling perspective instead of a top-down view.
Players in Space Gladiators assume the role of a captive sent to entertain aliens as a gladiator on the distant planet Tartarus. The game challenges players to progress through randomly generated biomes filled with deadly traps and monsters while facing off against opponents in arenas to obtain items and coins. Success in these battles may grant players their freedom.
Space Gladiators offers fluid controls that allow players to dodge and fight enemies skillfully. The game features hundreds of hand-crafted rooms that are randomly picked, ensuring each new run feels unique. Players will encounter over 50 enemies and 10 bosses, each with distinct movesets and attack patterns. The game boasts more than 300 items, including pets, weapons, and trinkets that unlock new abilities for the characters.
The game presents eight unique characters that cater to different playstyles, ranging from a potato to an alien worm in underpants. Players can customize their runs by selecting easier or harder paths depending on their confidence level or current in-game status.
