Paradox Interactive has announced the upcoming launch of Stellaris: Galactic Paragons, the latest expansion to their popular sci-fi grand strategy game. This new expansion will introduce a deeper character and story progression system, giving players the ability to customize, fine-tune, and improve their leaders. Galactic Paragons is slated for release on May 9, 2023, and is available for wishlist addition on Steam.

The Galactic Paragons expansion will significantly enhance the Galactic Council mechanic, offering additional civics, specialized roles, and benefits. This will allow players to develop and empower their empire’s leaders to shape the future in innovative ways.

Stephen Muray, Game Director for Stellaris, shared his enthusiasm for the new expansion, stating, “There are endless stories to tell in the Stellaris universe. Breathing life into the stories of the leaders in the Galactic Council and your empires is a perfect showcase of the team’s commitment to expanding the ways our players can explore a vast and wondrous galaxy.”

Key features of Galactic Paragons include:

  • Unique Council Roles: Specialized roles and benefits based on civics and government types, with additional positions unlocked as the empire evolves.
  • New Dynamic Leaders: Recruit, improve, and follow the leaders of your empire through the ages, shaping their traits, selecting their veteran class, and guiding their destiny.
  • Meet Galactic Heroes: Attract renowned paragons to your council with unique art, events, and stories, and discover four Legendary Paragons with intricate event chains and unique mechanics.
  • New Traditions, Civics, and More: Introducing the “Under One Rule” Origin, eight new Civics focused on leadership, 12 new Veteran Classes, hundreds of new Leader Traits, two new Tradition Trees, and new ships, art, and story content.

Alongside the Galactic Paragons expansion, the 3.8 Gemini update will also bring a significant number of Quality of Life updates to Stellaris players. Notably, two multiplayer game modes are now available in open beta: Cooperative PvE and Competitive PvP.

Cooperative PvE allows players to collaborate as a single empire against enemy empires, providing a more relaxed gaming experience or an opportunity to teach new players the game mechanics. On the other hand, Cooperative PvP enables groups of players to join opposing empires and compete against each other. This mode helps reduce barriers to entry in competitive multiplayer by allowing players to share responsibilities, while also offering password-protected empire options for a more competitive experience.

Stellaris: Galactic Paragons is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the game, providing players with new opportunities to explore and shape their empires like never before.
