Gameloft, in partnership with HarperCollins Productions, has announced the release of free downloadable content (DLC) for their popular game, The Oregon Trail™, on both PC and Nintendo Switch platforms. This new content was previously exclusive to the Apple Arcade version and brings a wealth of new stories and experiences for players to discover.

The Oregon Trail’s free DLC provides players with 13 new stories that delve into the fascinating tales of various critters and animals found along the trail. These stories, which were often passed down through generations of loggers and mountain men, serve as a precursor to modern-day cryptids.

One of the new additions is a Native American story narrated by Sarah Winnemucca, which recounts the legend of “The People Eaters,” a cannibalistic, red-headed tribe that clashed with the Numa people.

The DLC also includes a story centered around the Horse Creek Treaty. In this narrative, players aid the Lenape family in traveling to Fort Laramie to serve as interpreters between the Crow and the United States. This storyline introduces two new characters, Thomas Fitzpatrick and Mato Oyuhu.

Furthermore, players can explore the Chisholm Trail Journey, which takes place over a two-leg trip and features ten new locations. Established in 1867 by Jesse Chisholm and Black Beaver, this journey has players directing a chuck wagon party, herding a large group of cattle from San Antonio to Abilene alongside cowboys.

The Oregon Trail™ on PC and Nintendo Switch now includes all five previous content updates, enhanced accessibility options, events, and new visual filters for an improved gaming experience. With the addition of this free DLC, players can enjoy even more captivating stories and unique gameplay in their historic journey down The Oregon Trail.
