Talk about leveling up the dating game! DreadXP and AkaBaka revealed that they’ve got something special cooking for Valentine’s Day 2024: the release of Sucker for Love: Date to Die For. For those who love horror as much as romance, get ready to tap into your darker side.

The game serves as a standalone sequel to the 2022 hit, Sucker for Love: First Date. This time around, gamers follow the path of Stardust, a woman who heads back to her hometown of Sacramen-cho after receiving a cryptic letter from her late parents. But instead of a warm welcome, she’s met by cultists who’ve taken over the place. It’s here that she’s left with no choice but to summon Rhok’zan, the notorious Black Goat of the Woods.

Love, Horror, and Nostalgia: A Triple Combo

The developers are mixing it up by paying homage to Lovecraftian horror, ’90s anime, and classic dating sims. As players navigate through the eerie forests, their fight for survival transforms into a strange yet compelling love story with Rhok’zan. But this ain’t your typical fairy tale romance; Rhok’zan soon learns that winning over this acolyte is no easy feat.

Challenging the Status Quo: Representation Matters

Here’s a twist: the game shifts the focus to the often marginalized. Stardust is an asexual woman of color who isn’t motivated by romantic love. By bucking the regular visual novel dating clichés, players step into Stardust’s shoes and find themselves being the ones chased. And how do you fend off persistent Eldritch entities? A handy-dandy spray bottle, of course.

Save the Date: Gameplay Details

Set to drop for Windows PC on February 14, 2024, Sucker for Love: Date to Die For promises a unique blend of horror and romance, delivering an unforgettable gaming experience that’s equal parts creepy and captivating.
