Next-Level Fight Game Coming in 2024
Arc System Works America, Inc., in collaboration with developer French-Bread, announced at the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) in Las Vegas the forthcoming release of Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes. This highly anticipated sequel is scheduled for a 2024 release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam platforms.
An Epic Conclusion to the Hollow Night Storyline
The upcoming release marks the final installment in the “Hollow Night” storyline, which began with the original series over a decade ago. The new game extends the saga, offering fans an untold story, revamped visuals, new characters, and expanded moves.
The narrative of the game unfolds in a light novel-style action fighting format, detailing the struggle to survive the Hollow Night. The story features 21 returning characters, with fresh In-Births joining the existing roster. The game also includes captivating background music that intensifies the immersive gaming experience.
New Gameplay Features
Players will assume the role of high school student Hyde, who becomes aware of his inner EXS powers after meeting the enigmatic Linne. Their quest to defeat the formidable Paradox, however, is disrupted by an inscrutable force known as Kuon the Aeon, who declares the end of the world. With Linne missing, Hyde embarks on a solo mission to save their world from Kuon.
The game’s unique battle system comes with high-quality pixel art visuals and dynamic facial expressions. The sequel will also provide players with an expanded move list, new character abilities, and a refined balance in its evolved battle system. The Rollback Netcode feature guarantees smooth Rank Matches and Player Matches against global online opponents. Beginners can also perform stylish moves with ease by simply pressing the EXS button, providing a sense of speed unique to 2D fighting games.
Celebrated Return at EVO
The announcement is not the only exciting news for fans at EVO. The beloved series marked its return at EVO, drawing an impressive 1,157 entrants in 2019 and establishing its esports prominence. Event attendees also had the chance to try gameplay demos of Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes at the Arc System Works’ EVO booth (#J2). Exclusive game merchandise was also available on-site, alongside a special ARC LIVE broadcast featuring the French-Bread development team.
