Valheim is stepping up the competition with the Trial of Týr, its first-ever speedrunning event. Coffee Stain and Iron Gate Studio are celebrating the recent Hildir’s Request update by challenging the most fearless vikings out there.
Time to Prove Your Valor
To secure a chance at victory, players must defeat all bosses in the game’s new hard mode on a solo run, all without dying, and as quickly as possible. The clock is ticking, as competitors can try their hand on Xbox and PC until Tuesday 5th September at 23:59 CEST / 14:59 PDT.
Rules and Regulations
The hard mode solo run for the Trial of Týr requires strict adherence to specific conditions:
- Completion by a single player without dying, external help, or dev commands.
- Full stream on Twitch or YouTube, or fully recorded without splits in footage as evidence.
- Played with the “Hard” preset in the world modifier settings.
- Played on the official Trial of Týr world seed: MX7L9GYcf2.
- The run concludes when the player has defeated the Mistlands boss The Queen and mounted her head at the Ancient Stone Circle.
Competition and Reward
Victory will go to the player with the fastest completion time, and players can submit multiple runs if they manage to best their previous times. The triumphant viking will receive a custom-made engraved tankard bearing their name and completion time.

Entrants must link their submissions in a tweet to @Valheimgame on Twitter using the hashtag #Trialoftyr, and also via the designated form. The competition kicks off Tuesday August 22nd at 14:00 CEST / 05:00 PDT and runs until Tuesday 5th September at 23:59 CEST / 14:59 PDT.
