It begins with all players putting in a boot amount, an agreed total play which sits in the pot. They then place a bet and get 3 cards. Next, they must decide to call or raise, very similar to poker. Raised money goes into the pot, which increases the game’s total. The winner of the pot is the person who stays in until the hand is finished or goes to the person with the highest hand.
The hands are like poker, but use 3 cards. Thus, three of a kind is the highest hand you can have, followed by three consecutive cards of the same suit, like a straight flush, and down to a high card.
Andar Bahar
Andar Bahar is another popular game that comes from India. It is a total game of chance, and bets are based on which two boxes will win. These are the Andar box or the Bahar box. The aim is to guess which box the joker will land in from a pack of cards.
The dealer will shuffle the deck and draw the first card, which is the joker. Players can then place a first bet on which box they think it will land upon. Cards are then drawn alternately and placed on the Andar box or the Bahar box. If the joker does not appear right away, players can then have a second round of betting, slowly adding to the total. There is also a special bet with increased payouts known as the Super Bahar bet.
