Aberrus Boss Tactics

Farming Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible raid is not an easy walk. Many mechanics are familiar and repeat from encounter to encounter. However, they still work slightly differently in each fight. There’ll be no shame in ordering one of our Aberrus carry services to ensure your victory here. Anyway, knowing the basic tactics won’t be superfluous too.

Kazzara, the Hellforged

What is dangerous about Kazzara apart from her appearance? The most interesting mechanic is connected with the Dread Rifts and Rays of Anguish spells.

The Rifts create puddles under the marked players after 5 seconds. The puddles should be taken out of the melee. However, it won’t be wise to take them too far. The Rays will follow marked players for a few seconds or until they confront these puddles.

On the difficulties above Normal, there’s only one way to deal with Rays: to bring them to the Rifts. If you don’t, they’ll be drastically empowered. Finally: beware of the boss throwing pieces of its elementium armor at the party.

The Amalgamation Chamber

The main mechanic of the first phase is simple and familiar. Krozgoth and Moltannia stack debuffs on the players around them. This makes you split the raid into groups and change them when the stacks are too high. The group fighting Krozgoth should run away from Coalescing Void. The group fighting Moltannia should split the damage from Fiery Meteor.

The merge happens when one of the elementals’ HP is 50%. The remaining HP is combined, so it’s crucial not to make one 50% when another still has too much. Some boss mechanics sort of merge too.

For instance, the Gloom Conflagration is a combination of the Meteor and Void skills. First of all, you’ll have to split the damage from the fall of the fiery sphere. But then — immediately run away from a blackhole-like sphere that arises in its place.

The Forgotten Experiments

Heroes of Azeroth will fight Thadrion, Neldris and Rionthus one by one. A particularly irritating spell is cast by Thadrion: the Unstable Essence. It’s a spell that must be dispelled but… won’t be. Its target receives stacking damage per second. When dispelled, it triggers an AoE blast and jumps to another player.

That effect ends only with the death of Thadrion — unless you are on Heroic difficulty. On it, the spell will jump until the end of the encounter. One more mechanic to worry about is connected with Rionthus’ Temporal Anomaly. The bronze sphere will try to reach the boss and unpleasantly buff it. Stand in its way to make it bounce away.

Assault of the Zaqali

For this, you’ll split your raid so that it can fight waves of mobs on both platforms of the wall. Kagni will jump between them. Concerning mobs, the biggest threat are the Zaqali Wallclimbers. They will try to get to the door behind you and cause a deadly explosion.

You can prevent them from doing it by killing mobs with damage, but there’s a more funny and effective way. During the fight, Kagni spawns Cave Rubble on the ground. Throwing it from the platform at the places marked with arrows will kill the climbing mobs.

The second phase begins when Kagni’s HP is 25%. He decides to break the door with his own hands. His Catastrophic Slam will be aimed at the door. However, you can prevent the explosion by splitting the damage from the Slam among the raid. Beware: on the Heroic, each Slam deals more damage to the players it touched previously.

Rashok the Elder

Rashok’s energy bar is the encounter’s main mechanic. The raid’s task is not to let him fill this bar fully. The goal may seem easy to reach: tanks should pull Rashok at the circle in the middle of the room. This will drain his energy and bring the fight back to normal.

On the other hand, the actual process of draining Rashok’s energy is painful. The number of chaotic AoE increases drastically. Compared to this, evading Lava Vortexes and soaking Doom Flames during the normal fight phase will feel like a joke. Finally, remember that you can drain the boss only three times. If you don’t, you’re unlikely to defeat him.

Zskarn, the Vigilant Steward

Zskarn’s way of fighting is simple, but the number of AoEs he casts can compete with Rashok’s one. The room will be literally set on flame and dotted with plenty of traps.

These traps are only one source of the fire. Sometimes the boss will cast Tactical Destruction, pouring out flames from the activated dragon statues. Besides, all the players are knockbacked periodically with the Blast Wave. The Wave seriously increases chances of getting damaged by fire.

However, there’s a way to decrease those chances. Zskarn also spawns the Dragonfire Golems. Destroy them and use their parts to deactivate the most annoying traps.

Magmorax

Magmorax’s encounter proves the popularity of soaking mechanics in the Aberrus. The biggest threat in this fight is posed by the Molten Spittle. The skill casts the Explosive Magma DoTs on a few players. When it’s removed or expired, the Magma Puddle is spawned. The Puddle expands until players get in and soak it.

Those who participated in shrinking Puddles get a stacking debuff on Heroic difficulty. Getting 20 stacks means death. Besides, it’s impossible to completely remove these AoEs on Mythic.

Echo of Neltharion

The first phase’s tasks are unusual but easy to complete. Evade all the AoEs and direct the Calamitous Strikes to the walls. By doing the latter, you clear the way to other areas of the encounter. There you can evade the Echoing Fissure’s deadly damage.

The second phase is different. You must break walls to reach the spawned adds, kill them one by one and thus open a possibility to lower boss HP to 35%. On the higher levels of difficulty, it’ll be hard to do. The mobs become selectable only for a few players. Besides, these players become hostile for the time they can beat the mobs.

Finally, in the third phase, it’s recommended to stop breaking walls. In exchange for their pieces, Echo of Neltharion will make the Sunder Reality portals. These portals are crucial for you to survive the Ebon Destruction spell.

Scalecommander Sarkareth

As always, the basic advice for the encounter is to avoid AoE. However, the advice gradually becomes more complicated to follow. The thing is that anyone who was touched by anything Void starts getting the Oblivion debuff. It’s stackable.

In the second phase, Sarkareth casts Void Bombs which leave Void Fractures. Players with the biggest numbers of Oblivion stacks can make Fractures disappear by running into them. When players have 10 Oblivion stacks, they appear in the Emptiness Between Stars. The task there is to collect the lost mind pieces to return to the boss fight room.

The Void Bomb mechanic becomes even more problematic on the Mythic level. The Bomb detonation leads to the emergence of Dimensional Puncture. The one who gets in it is sent to the Emptiness — or just dies if there’re not enough stacks.

But the Puncture shouldn’t be confused with the Embrace of Nothingness. This blackhole’s AoE damage can and must be split and soaked. Finally, run away from the boss Void copies and be sure to stand behind Astral Formation to avoid knockbacks from the Scouring Eternity.
