Hey G-LYFE Nation, hold onto your controllers, ’cause Anodyne is back and it’s gotten a fresh coat of pixels. The classic Zelda-lite adventure is now available as a remastered version for Windows, Mac, and Linux gamers. Console players? Chill, you’re in the loop too, but you gotta wait until 2024.

So what’s in this blast from the past? You’re still guiding Young through the labyrinth of his subconscious, tackling creepy, surreal landscapes and solving Game Boy-styled dungeons. It’s all done in that signature 16-bit visual aesthetic and topped off with a soundtrack that’s a straight-up mood.

Remaster Features Unveiled

What’s different in this reboot? Well, it’s the same game you loved back in 2013, complete with graphics, music, and those elusive secrets. But hold up, there are some sick updates:

  • Fluid 60 FPS Gameplay: And for those who like it old-school, there’s an option to lock it back to 30 FPS.
  • Secret Boss Rush Mode: Feel like flexing? Challenge all the bosses back-to-back.
  • Steam Deck-Verified Controller Support: Plus, input rebinding is now a thing.
  • Enhanced Minimap: Track down treasure boxes and keep tabs on dungeon floor numbers. No more wandering like a lost soul.
  • Quick-Swap Weapon Extensions: Because nobody got time to fumble with menus.
  • Toggle-Friendly Gameplay: More health drops, invincibility, and other approachability options.
  • Linux Support: Yup, penguins get to play too.

Where to Cop the Remaster

PC players, you can scoop this up on Itch, Steam, Humble, and GOG. Console fam, mark 2024 on your calendar. It’s happening, just gotta ride it out.

Quick note for those who are already Anodyne vets: If you own the original, you get this remastered version for free. But keep in mind, save files aren’t making the jump between versions.
