Four Game Development Studios Join First-of-its-Kind Mobile Game Accelerator
Black Voices in Gaming, a dedicated nonprofit organization aimed at amplifying Black representation and inclusion within the gaming industry, has revealed the names of four development studios that will be part of the maiden batch of the XPerience Excellence Accelerator (XEA), backed by Netflix Games.
The Selected Studios
The selected development studios represent a diverse and international group, and their games encompass various genres and styles:
- Snake Mail Delivery Service by Studio Gesinimo Games, based in the UK.
- Hot Bunz from SpaceSalad Studios, hailing from South Africa.
- Driftwood developed by Weathered Sweater from the U.S.
- Chess Heroes Clash by Oshoma Games, a game studio in Nigeria.
About the XPerience Excellence Accelerator (XEA)
XEA is a novel mobile game accelerator established in collaboration with Netflix, the leading streaming provider that’s rapidly expanding into the gaming platform. The program incorporates essential aspects of the gaming industry such as education, networking, and funding, specifically aimed at Black game developers who have promising mobile game concepts.
To further foster opportunities for Black game development teams, XEA is providing $20,000 grants to each team to assist in prototype development, helping in pitching to prospective investors, publishers, and partners.
