PS VR Arcade Shooter Available at Discounted Price During Launch Week in the Americas and Europe

Endless bullet barrages hit their mark today with the PlayStation®VR (PS VR) launch of the VR arcade shooter Blasters of the Universe. From Primetime Emmy® Award-winning developer Secret Location and publisher Archiact, comes a frenetic modernization of the classic bullet hell genre that galvanizes players to duck, dodge and deflect their way through increasingly challenging levels visually inspired by over-the-top 90s VHS cover art. Blasters of the Universe pulls players into a vibrant neon world filled with harrowing hordes of minions controlled by the nerd-turned-evil-god Grand Master Alwyn. With two PlayStation Move controllers in-hand, players must use one to deflect complex projectile patterns and the other to assault the enemies ahead. Any play style can be accommodated with over 130,000 ways to customize and tweak loadouts to match offensive or defensive preferences.

“We’re huge fans of bullet hell and wanted to make a game that encapsulates its infamous mayhem and difficulty through modern VR,” said Josh Manricks, Technical Director and Project Lead at Secret Location. “VR adds layers of challenge by making players use quick full-body reactions to survive the relentless barrage of enemies. It’s also a great way to hash out lingering resentment over bullies from the past – if anyone needs to be put in his place, it’s Grand Master Alwyn.”

In true bullet hell fashion, Blasters of the Universe bolsters immense challenge and requires a laser-focused determination to overcome its fierce stages – those dedicated enough can vie for the coveted Platinum trophy. The newly added Casual mode gives players seeking entrance into the neon bullet hell-scape a far less abrasive and difficult experience. True opposition addicts can also play the strenuous Endless mode in a race to high-score heaven.

Blasters of the Universe is available now on PS VR for $14.99 with limited time discounts from Feb. 27 through March 6: PlayStation Network users in the Americas can purchase the game for 10 percent off, and PlayStation Plus users in the Americas and Europe can purchase the game for 15 percent off. The game is rated E10+ for fantasy violence, crude humor and mild language. Secret Location and Archiact developed Blasters of the Universe with the support of the Canadian Media Fund and Ontario Media Development Corporation.
