Destiny 2: The Final Shape
Today, during the annual Destiny 2 Showcase event, Bungie pulled back the curtain on the details and immediate pre-order availability for the upcoming expansion, Destiny 2: The Final Shape, which is set to release on February 27th, 2024. The expansion will bring new gameplay elements and narrative stakes to the Destiny 2 “Light and Darkness Saga.”
Into The Traveler
The Final Shape expansion will feature a mysterious new destination called The Pale Heart, shaped by The Witness and influenced by the Guardians’ journey. It will offer new Super abilities for each class, new weapons like Rocket Pistol Sidearm, Support Frame Auto Rifle, and the Exotic Fusion Rifle, and a new enemy type called Subjugators.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape Available for Pre-Order Now
Destiny 2: The Final Shape is available in three editions: Standard Edition, Destiny 2: The Final Shape + Annual Pass Edition, and Collector’s Edition. Each edition offers various content and instant unlocks with pre-order.
Season of the Witch
The Witch Queen Trial Weekend
Bungie also unveiled Season of the Witch, launching worldwide today. This new season will have Guardians working with Eris Morn to wield arcane Hive magic. The season features a new Deck of Whispers for player progression and the reprised raid Crota’s End, launching on September 1.
An exciting addition to the Destiny 2 experience, The Witch Queen Trial Weekend, will occur from August 24th – 27th, allowing players to explore the groundbreaking campaign in The Witch Queen expansion at no additional charge.
Enter Episodes
Bungie announced its new content format, Episodes, that will begin in March 2024 shortly after the launch of The Final Shape. Episodes will be a new approach to storytelling and content, with three separate Episodes for 2024 titled Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy.
Time To Reflect
The development team is launching quality-of-life features, such as Timeline Reflections missions, aimed at improving the overall experience for players. Three Timeline Reflections missions are available at launch, at no extra charge.
In Memoriam: Lance Reddick
A moment of silence was observed for Lance Reddick, who passed away in March. Reddick’s role as the English language voice actor of Zavala will continue with film and television actor Keith David.
Reprised Raid: Crota’s End
The upcoming season also marks the return of the raid Crota’s End, with a World First Race to reward the first successful fireteam.
Destiny 2’s Future
With the unveiling of The Final Shape, new Episodes, Season of the Witch, and many more features, Bungie is shaping the future of Destiny 2. Guardians can look forward to confronting new challenges and delving into new stories. Destiny 2: The Final Shape is set to launch on February 27, 2024, and the new season begins today.
