Cooler Master MM720 Gaming Mouse Review

Summary
Today we look at the MM720 ultra-lightweight claw grip gaming mouse featuring a light honeycomb shell, a 16k dpi sensor, optical switches, and PRFE mouse feet priced at $49.99. Unfortunately, the profile switch is on the bottom making it harder to quickly swap during a match. It features a honeycomb shell in what they call a claw grip shape which I think is just a bit of over-engineering. If you are down with the claw grip shape, then you can feel confident that the overall design and performance of this mouse is on par with any other at this price point.

Cooler Master is most famous for its legendary internal PC thermal solutions. Products like CPU water coolers, fans, and heat sinks. I have had some brief encounters with their peripherals at conventions but have never been able to spend extended time with them. Today we look at the MM720 ultra-lightweight claw grip gaming mouse featuring a light honeycomb shell, a 16k dpi sensor, optical switches, and PRFE mouse feet priced at $49.99.

49 games! This mouse is up there with the lightest of the lightest in gaming mice in the world. It really does feel like a feather in your hand. Geared more towards FPS and MOBA players the MM720 has only 6 buttons and a profile switch. Unfortunately, the profile switch is on the bottom making it harder to quickly swap during a match. What is impressive though are these lasers guided optical switches! So crisp and responsive with virtually no acceleration. It features a honeycomb shell in what they call a claw grip shape which I think is just a bit of over-engineering. It feels a bit awkward in your hand giving your ring finger an elevated rest position. Ultimately this comes down to personal preference, but I don’t see many mice shaped like this at tournament level. Big-time props though for making an effort to get some RBG inside the main hull of the mouse at this price point!

The MM720 glides on Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) skates which are excellent. Its PixArt PMW3389 sensor featuring 16k DPI, 400 IPS, 1000HZ polling rate, and 50g acceleration performs at a very high level up to 70 million clicks. If you look at the MM720 from a statistic sheet perspective, it will show you a mouse that performs at top tier. I would be lying if I told you it didn’t, this mouse has excellent Esports quality performance. It is very precise with 7 levels of DPI 400, 800, 1200 (default), 1600, 3200, 6400, 16000. Cooler Master outfitted the MM720 with a fixed ultraweave cable which has to be one of the lightest I have ever used. Range and motion is really almost effortless due to the cable’s lightweight. Performance-wise the MM720 can compete with any other mouse on the market at this price point. My compliments to Cooler Master they really did their research when outfitting this mouse with what they call performance first gaming-grade hardware.

While the 2- zone RBG lighting is minimal it does add great flavor to your battle station! It features a fully lit mouse wheel along with 1 main light in the main hull area under the honeycombs. There is also a hexagon shape highlighted on the backside of the mouse where your palm rests. This product is performance over beauty but Cooler Master isn’t going to leave you a dark battle station this time. Cooler Master+ is the software used to customize their products. It does a bit more than change settings for your mouse you can also track your CPU temperatures. I am very impressed with the MasterPlus+ software it’s definitely one of the better systems on the market. You can really customize every movement-related setting you can think of including angle tunability, OS sensitivity, angle snapping, lift-off distance, OS double click speed, and button response time just to name a few. RGB lighting effects and button macro customization are also top tier. If you are down with the claw grip shape, then you can feel confident that the overall design and performance of this mouse is on par with any other at this price point.
