Ghost Ship Games has announced a maintenance update for their cooperative mining shooter, Deep Rock Galactic. This update, already available for PC users and set to reach console gamers by March 4, 2024, brings a fresh twist to the game’s environment with several enhancements and a novel minigame.
Prop Hunt Minigame and More
At the heart of the update is the introduction of a prop hunt minigame within the Space Rig, made possible by the new Hidden Dwarf Double IPA beer. This unique in-game item, supplied by Hydengözik Brewery, allows players to transform into various objects, adding a layer of mischief and strategy to the game’s social hub.
Enhanced Heavy Armor Mechanics
The update also revises the Heavy Armor mechanics for the creatures of Hoxxes IV. Armor scaling is now adjusted according to the Hazard level, making high-level encounters more challenging. Additionally, weapons equipped with the Armor Breaking modification have been improved for consistency, ensuring that projectiles can effectively penetrate armor and damage the creature beneath.
Fixing Dreadnought Teleportation
A notable fix in this update addresses an issue where Dreadnoughts could unpredictably teleport during combat. This change aims to provide a more consistent and fair challenge to players, eliminating the frustration of dealing with this previously erratic behavior.
Quality of Life Improvements
Further quality of life improvements include:
- Adjustments to Weapon Maintenance XP, allowing it to count towards the maximum needed for all paintjobs without the necessity to reset the tracker by claiming weapon skins.
- Updates to the Miner Community terminal to enhance reliability in joining union chapters and receiving rewards.
- Streamlined communication options for PC players, offering easier access to Steam’s general settings directly from the game’s menu.
